Outcome Statement
What do you plan on doing?
I plan on contacting state legislatures and people with money power. By letting the stereotypically "more powerful" people aware of the issues created by aged laws and regulations, money power and people power can come together to create a better educational system for EVERYONE.
When will it take place?
My action is continuously taking place. Over the past three weeks, May 1st to May 21st, I have made phone calls to interest groups who are focused on transforming education, contacted people of other communities and conversed about the differences in my education as opposed to theirs, and have begun writing letters to the Illinois state legislature and representatives for my district and the districts around my neighborhood.
Who is your target audience?
My target audience is the people in power. Students and parents and educators are already knowledgeable on my issue because they live through the issue every day. People in power have not necessarily had the same interactions with education as the people in cities, in lower income neighborhoods, and in low quality educational standards. To put more bluntly, my target audience involves state legislatures, governors, Senate members, and Representatives on the local, state, and federal levels because they need to do something about the inequalities of education.
What do you hope participants/audience members and recipients will experience and do because of your action?
I hope and pray that one of the people in power will take me seriously and actually bring the issue of unequal education to the rest of their peers and other people in power because one person can make a difference. The difference has to start somewhere and it will start very small, on a small scale. With some time, there will be more people gaining knowledge on the issue-maybe even Donald Trump or Bill Gates will go further than handing out scholarships-and then a full scale action can be implemented.
